This bit discourages fixing and leaning on the forehand. This unique single jointed D-Bit is comprised of block shapes along the mouthpiece. The block mouthpiece tends to be strong in nature. When the reins are engaged, the blocks apply pressure to the bars of the mouth which advises the horse to lift the balance and soften their mouth.

Block D Bit

I was curious about this bit after hearing Adam talk about it on the Farmhouse Tack podcast. When I received it, I was not sure what to make of its function ability so decided to try it on my grand prix gelding who can be very rigid, stiff and strong particularly on the left side of his mouth. This gelding is powerful and large at 18h with a large muscular neck that lends to him being able to pull and drop at the base of jumps. I normally ride him in a ported kimberwick or high port pelham. From the moment I picked up the reins with him in the block D Bit I was wowed by the response the horse gave me. No grabbing on the left side of the bit and I am able to have nice lift, feel and balance at the base of the jumps. I am happy I have found a "snaffle" type bit to utilize at home for more aggressive flatwork as well. Very satisfied with the quality and look of the bit.
