The Contour Barrel D Bit features a single-jointed mouthpiece constructed from a series of fixed, rounded barrel segments. These segments create multiple contact points across the tongue and bars, giving the rider a clearer response when rein pressure is applied.
Unlike a traditional smooth single joint, the barrel construction introduces more structure to the mouthpiece. When the horse becomes heavy in the contact or begins to lean on the rider’s hand, the rounded barrel sections create a more noticeable response. When the horse carries itself lightly, the bit remains relatively stable and neutral in the mouth.
Each barrel segment features anti-pinch grooves to help prevent the lips from being caught during use.
The D-ring cheekpiece provides stability and lateral support while helping keep the bit centered in the mouth. Because the cheek is fixed, rein contact remains direct and consistent.
