The Contour Barrel Pelham Bit combines a single-jointed barrel mouthpiece with a cheekpiece that offers both direct rein action and leverage.
The mouthpiece is constructed from fixed, rounded barrel segments, creating multiple contact points across the tongue and bars. Compared to a traditional smooth single joint, this gives the rider a more defined response when the horse becomes heavy or leans into the hand, while remaining stable when the horse carries itself lightly.
Each segment features anti-pinch grooves to help prevent the lips from being caught.
The Pelham cheekpiece allows the rider to use both snaffle-style contact and leverage. When the curb rein is engaged, pressure is introduced through the poll and curb chain area, helping influence balance, carriage, and overall response.
